Announces an extension to the Exeter to Bristol Crosspost route. “… a Post will be settled…. Between Oxford and Bath through the towns of Abington, Wantage, Marlborough and Devizes three times a week….. the management of several stages is committed to the care of Mr Joseph Quash”.

The London Gazette started in Oxford in 1665 at the time of the Plague of London and was originally named the Oxford Gazette.

The postal interest in this item is confined to Page 2 where in the left hand column, just below ‘PREV’, 2 notices in italics are given with reference to the “Post”, the first relating to London to Tunbridge Wells and the second Oxford to Bath ending with “…..the Care of Mr Joseph Quash”.
