This envelope from Chile posted on 25th Feb 1932 and addressed to London was salvaged from the Cie Aéropostale Latécoère 28 plane en route from Chile to France that crashed into the sea on 27 February 1932 off the beach at Setiba.  The plane had been hit by lightening during a severe storm.  The crew were killed and their bodies not recovered until 2nd March.  Mail for England such as this cover should have received a two-line cachet in black:  DAMAGED BY SEA / WATER
