These singed and water damaged envelopes from England were recovered from the Imperial Airways Armstrong Whitworth XV Atalanta Class plane ATHENA G-ABTK.  The top cover addressed to New south Wales received the cachet in black “Salvaged from Air Iiner / ATHENA” with the spelling “Iiner” for Liner”.  A number of different cachets are known depending on the country of destination.  Of additional interest is the HANWELL postmark with the incorrect 15PM slug in place of the month slug (SEP). The lower cover addressed to Burma received a manuscript “Ex Athena”.
